Atthesummit,theU.S.governmentonceagainactedtosplittheworldintotwocampsofwhatitdefinedas"democraciesandnon-democracies."However,theU.S.,claimingsupremacyoverothersandfollowinghegemonytoservetheinterestsofnoneotherthanitself,hasnothingtodowithdemocracy.Whatitdoesistoprovokeblocconfrontation.

Thereisnodemocraticsystemthatcanclaimtobesuperiortoothers.Nocountryisqualifiedtoactasthejudgeofdemocracy.Allpeoplesshouldandareabletoindependentlydevelopapathofdemocracywiththecharacteristicsoftheirowncountry,thuscontributingtheirwisdomandstrengthtoenrichingthediversityofdemocracy.

Democracymeans"rulebythepeople"or"sovereigntyofthepeople."Itisnotabstract,butaconcretephenomenonthatisconstantlyevolving.Thereisnofixedmodelofdemocracy.Everyformofdemocracyistheresultofthedevelopmentofhumanpoliticalcivilizationundercertainhistoricalconditions.

Therearemorethan200countriesandregions,andover2,500ethnicgroupsintheworld.Differenthistories,nationalconditions,ethnicgroupsandcustomsgivebirthtodifferentcivilizations.Suchdiversityanddifferenceshavedecidedthattherearenoidenticalpoliticalsystemsintheworld,andneitheristhereapoliticalmodelthatfitsall.

Eachcountry"spoliticalsystemisuniquebasedondifferentnationalconditions.Acountry"spoliticalsystemischosenbyitspeopleandistheresultofalong-termprocessofevolutionandimprovementonthebasisofitshistory,culturaltraditions,andeconomicandsocialdevelopment.

Historyandrealityhaveshowntimeandagainthatcopyingothercountries"politicalsystemsanddemocraticmodelswillnotwork.Moreimportantly,itwillevenleadtosocialunrest,nationaldivision,deathsandtheoverthrowofregimes,andruinthefutureanddestinyofthecountry.

Manynon-Westerncountriesdevelopedtheirdemocraticsystemsbasedonthebasicprincipleofdemocracyandtheirnationalconditions,thusachievingsoundgovernance.

Fromahistoricalperspective,thedevelopmentofdemocracyintheU.S.wasastepforward.However,overtheyears,itsdemocracyhasbecomealienatedanddegenerated,andithasincreasinglydeviatedfromtheessenceofdemocracyanditsoriginaldesign.Thehaloofitsself-proclaimed"globalbeaconofdemocracy"haslonglostitsluster.

TheU.S.todayistroubledwithmessyandchaoticpracticesofdemocracy,andthenatureofmoneypoliticsandoligarchyisconstantlyexposed.AccordingtoOpenSecretsstatistics,thetotalcostofthe2022stateandfederalmidtermelectionswasnearly$17billion,thehighestinhistory,exceedingtheannualGDPofover70countriesin2021.

Democracyismeanttobeusedtosolveproblemsfacedbythepeople.However,thegovernancecapabilityofAmericandemocracyhasbeenonaconstantdecline.

Politiciansrunonslogansandemptypromises,butnevermakegoodontheirpromises.Mostordinaryvotersaremobilizedonlyinvoting,andthentheyareneglectedandcannothaveanyrealinfluenceonpoliticaldecisions.Theirvoicesandappealsfordemocracyareevenconsidereda"noise."

ThishasledtoagrowingdisillusionmentwithAmericandemocracy.Americans"prideintheirdemocracyhasdroppedsharply,from90%in2002to54%in2022,accordingtoajointWashingtonPost-UniversityofMarylandsurvey.APewCenterpollsaid65percentofAmericansbelievethattheAmericandemocraticsystemneedsmajorreforms,while57percentofrespondentsbelievetheU.S.isnolongeramodelofdemocracy.

Democracyistherightofthepeopleineverycountry,ratherthantheprerogativeofafewnations.Assessingthemyriadpoliticalsystemsintheworldagainstasingleyardstickandexaminingdiversepoliticalstructuresinmonochromeareinthemselvesundemocratic.Launchingso-called"democratictransition"inothercountriesistotrampleonthespiritofdemocracy.

Moreandmorecountrieshaverealizedtodaythattofindadevelopmentpaththatsuitsthemselves,theymuststayalerttothedangerousactoftheexportofU.S.democracy.

Withoutregardtohugedifferencesinthelevelofeconomicdevelopmentandinthehistoricalandculturalbackgroundsofcountriesaroundtheworld,theU.S.seekstoimposeitsownpoliticalsystemandvaluesonothernations,whichhasplacedmanycountriesandregionsinturbulences,conflictsandwars.

Assuggestedbyaforeignmediaoutlet,democracyhaslongbecomeaweaponofmassivedestructionfortheU.S.toattackcountrieswithdifferentviews.

ThecurrentU.S.administrationhasignoredlessonsofhistory,thechaosofAmericandemocracyandtherejectionoftheoverwhelmingmajorityofcountriestobeingkidnappedbythehypocritical"conceptofdemocracy"oftheU.S.Ithaskeptfabricatingandsellingthetrumped-upnarrativeof"democracyversusauthoritarianism."

Suchpracticesofadvancingitsowngeostrategyunderthedisguiseof"democracy"aredestinedtobeabandonedbythetimes.

PresidentoftheU.S.CouncilonForeignRelationsRichardHaasscalledthe"SummitforDemocracy"a"badidea,"sayingAmericandemocracyishardlyamodelforothers.

Democracyisacommonvalueofhumanity.Countriesshouldrespecttheculturaldiversityofcivilizations,carryforwardthecommonvalueofhumanity,sincerelysupportalleffortstoindependentlyexploreapathtodemocracy,andenhancemutuallearningondemocracybasedonmutualrespectandequality,soastopushforthecontinuousdevelopmentofdemocracyandbuildaworldwhereallcountriesappreciatethecultureandvaluesofothersasdototheirown.
