Thecountryhashitthe"fast-forward"buttononitseconomicgrowthafteritoptimizedtheepidemicpreventionandcontrolmeasures,saidHanWenxiu,executivedeputydirectoroftheofficeoftheCentralCommitteeforFinancialandEconomicAffairs,attheeconomicsummitoftheongoingChinaDevelopmentForum2023.

Thecountry"sretailsales,agaugeofconsumptiongrowth,increased3.5percentyearonyearintheJanuary-Februaryperiod,reversingdeclinesseeninthepreviousthreemonths.

Intheperiod,China"svalue-addedindustrialoutputwentup2.4percentyearonyear,whiletheindexgaugingthecountry"sserviceindustryoutputrose5.5percent.

HealsonotedthatChina"seconomicoperationstillfaceschallengessuchasstagflationrisksandspillovereffectsbroughtbythetightenedmonetarypoliciesofdevelopedeconomies,sayingthatthecountry"s2023growthtargetissetaftertakingtheabovefactorsintoconsideration.

ThecontributionofChina"seconomytotheworldeconomicgrowthhasexceeded30percentonaverageinthepastdecade,andthefigurethisyearwillsurpassthatin2022,providingmarketdemandandastrongimpetustotheglobalrecovery,hesaid.

HanalsopointedoutthatChinaisproactiveinstabilizingglobalindustrialandsupplychains,defusingfinancialrisks,attractingforeigninvestments,andupholdingmultilateralism.

Tofurtherrevivetheeconomy,ChinawillmakemoreeffortsinChinesemodernizationtocultivatedevelopmentinthemediumandlongterm,saidHan.
