        Duringthepast12months,48.2millionAmericansovertheageof18consumedmarijuanaatleastonce.Drugabuseinthecountryhasledtoproblemslikeviolentcrimesandfamilydiscord.

        Despitethealarmingnumbersandfacts,theU.S.governmentmakesinadequateeffortsinpublicizingthedangersofdrugabuse,whichhaswronglyledsomepeopletoassociateitwithso-called"freedom."

        Drivenbyinterests,theU.S.governmentinsteadpromotesthelegalizationofdrugs,resultinginthelossofcountlesslives.

        DrugabusehaslongbeenadevastatingpublichealthdisasterintheU.S.,however,someU.S.politiciansandmediahavebeenhypingupfalseinformationthat"precursorcompoundsimportedfromChinaareillegallyusedtomanufacturefentanyl"toconfuserightandwrong,makingChinaascapegoatandhamperingSino-U.S.anti-drugcooperation.

        IftheU.S.continuestoshyawayfromtheproblem,itwilleventuallypoisonitself.Toeradicatetherootoftheproblem,itshouldstrengthenlawenforcementondrugcontrolandregulationoffentanylandotherdrugs,ratherthanmisleaditspublic,blameothercountries,andshifttheresponsibilityforitsowninadequategovernance.Otherwise,thedrugproblemmayloomforalongtimeinthecountry.
